What should I wear to paddle?

Accepted Answer

Please wear comfortable clothing that is okay to get wet. For shoes, we suggest water shoes, old sneakers, or sandals with a strap. You will be getting in and out of the water, so plan on getting your feet wet. Also, please check the weather before you arrive! We highly suggest sun protection (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen). Sunglasses and sunscreen are available for purchase at the shop as well. If it is cloudy or chance of rain, we suggest bringing a rain jacket.

Can I bring a cooler?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We encourage you to take a break, eat lunch, swim, and enjoy the beauty around you. But please, NO alcohol, styrofoam, or glass. Soft-pack coolers work best for kayaks. Life in the middle of the river can be very hot in the summer, so we strongly encourage groups to bring water. Susquehanna Outfitters typically has drinks available for purchase.

What about bugs (I hate bugs)!?

Accepted Answer

Mosquitoes live in the vegetation along the bank and are seldom a problem on the water. Most insects on the water, like dragonflies and mayflies, are beautiful and do not bite. (Don’t be a hater). Mosquito bands are available for purchase if you don't believe us!​
